Silver Spring, MD to ???, VA

On the morning of July, 7, Katie waited patiently while I gathered all my stuff back into my big yellow traveling bag and bid her good-bye. I headed south through Rock Creek Park, which took me all the way to the Potomac River. There was a section closed, and the nicest woman, Vienna, helped me out several times. I also got to learn a little bit of ASL, because she signed as she spoke, even though I understood her perfectly. Thanks, Vienna!

Once across the Arlington Memorial Bridge, I headed south once again on the very nice Mount Vernon Bike Trail for twelve miles or so. At one point, though, I just got sleepy and decided to take a nap in the shade. An hour later, I joined onto the tail of two bikers heading to Mount Vernon, VA, until I turned west.
