Home again, home again, jiggedy jig!
Yes, I did make it home to Northampton, MA. I made it home to my apartment safely and soundly on the morning of Sunday, August 22, 2004. Of course, I had forgotten to take my key when I left on the tour, so I had to climb in the kitchen window, but it was much more fun that way!
The route was pretty easy, though my bike was a big drawback. It turns out that my front shifter really is toast and will not be fixable. Also, I got very tired after a few good miles, but all was good enough because it was the final leg of the tour and I knew my way and it was nice and sunny. Because my bike computer was again not working, I don't know exactly how long the stage was, but it took about three hours, so I am guessing the distance was about 35 miles. That puts the total for the tour at about 750 miles, if I'm not mistaken. For a twenty-day trip, I'd say that's not bad at all. I travelled only 11 of the 20 days, averaging almost 70 miles per stage.
Thanks for all of you that followed along. It was great to get the few comments and questions, and know that others were silently checking. I doubt that I'm riding to Colorado this year, but stay tuned for other biking adventures and other updates in my life.
